1. Project Title: Rebuilding the lives of people affected by earthquake in the 'Gauthale Community' in Salang VDC, Dhading District, Nepal

Project Duration: 1st Oct 2016 to 30th June 2020

Project Summary:
The project objective is the restoration of the social and economic living conditions of 114 families of the community of Gauthale, Salang VDC, and the sustainable improvement of their resilience to disasters. The project follows an integrated approach of the 3 components Reconstruction of houses, drinking water supply and resilience through Disaster Risk Reduction Management; Establishment and linking of local self-help structures; and Restoration and improvement of livelihood of 114 families. Thus, the project contributes to the overall objective of a sustainable livelihood of the population affected by the earthquake in Nepal.
Results and Activities:
Result 1. Reconstruction of houses, drinking water supply and resilience through Disaster Risk Reduction Management:
Construction of houses, Construction of attached toilet facilities, DRR situation assessment and training, Formation of a Disaster Preparedness Committee, Linking the target group with the district level (DRR), Access to treatment for traumatized people, Renovation of local well, Training for masons, Training for carpenters, Publication of a documentary film about reconstruction in Gauthale
Result 2. Establishment and linking of local self-help structures:
Formation of a cooperative society incl. management team, Marketing training, Strengthening 7 farmer’s clubs, Strengthening of 10 SHGs, Formation and Strengthening of 5 children’s clubs, Distribution of school materials, events to link the target group with village and district levels,
Result 3. Restoration and improvement of livelihood of 114 families:
Construction of Community Resource Centre, Establishment of a demo plot, Training of Junior Technical Assistant, Installation of a rain water harvesting system, Establishment of a seed bank, Trainings on organic methods of agriculture, Construction of compost pits, Establishment of kitchen gardens, Training on animal husbandry, Distribution of bucks and she-goats, Green fodder cultivation, Training on making woollen products
2. Project Title: Rebuilding and improving the living conditions of the inhabitants of 4 villages in Jwalamukhi, Nepal

Project Location: Jwalamukhi Rural Municipality-1, Maidi, Nepal
Project Duration: May 2019 to December, 2022

Project Summary:
The project objective is that 412 disadvantaged families from 4 villages improve their socio-economic living conditions and are prepared for natural disasters. The project follows an integrated approach of the three components community development and disaster preparedness; health, water and hygiene as well as agriculture and animal husbandry. Thus, the project contributes to the overall objective of reducing poverty and strengthening the resilience towards natural disasters in the Rural Municipality of Jwalamukhi, Nepal.

  • Repair of 5 wells
  • Drinking water supply for 115 households

3. Project Title: Promotion of education and health in 4 villages in Jwalamukhi, Nepal

Project Summary:
The project objective is the children from 4 villages of the Rural Municipality of Jwalamukhi grow up in a safe and supportive environment. The project follows an integrated approach of the three components community development and disaster preparedness; health, water and hygiene as well as education. Thus, the project contributes to the overall objective of creating an environment in the Rural Municipality of Jwalamukhi where the rights of children to health, education and participation are preserved.
Results and Activities:
Result 1. Community development and disaster preparedness:
  • First Aid training in schools
Result 2. Health, water and hygiene:
  • Construction and equipment of a birthing center
  • Drinking water supply for 2 schools
  • Construction of toilets in 4 education institutions
  • Implementation of health camps for children
  • Promotion of menstrual hygiene
Result 3. Education:
  • Construction of a new school building
  • Establishment of playground facilities in 4 schools
  • Provision of school material for needy children
  • Equipment of ECD classes
  • Provision of technical aids for 13 children with disabilities
  • Establishment and strengthening of 4 child clubs
  • Support for adolescent girls
