Project Summary:

The project objective is that 412 disadvantaged families from 4 villages improve their socio-economic living conditions and are prepared for natural disasters. The project follows an integrated approach of the three components community development and disaster preparedness; health, water and hygiene as well as agriculture and animal husbandry. Thus, the project contributes to the overall objective of reducing poverty and strengthening the resilience towards natural disasters in the Rural Municipality of Jwalamukhi, Nepal.

Result 1.Community development and disaster preparedness

  • Establishment and strengthening of a cooperative
  • Disaster preparedness and management

 Result 2.Health, water and hygiene

  • Repair of 5 wells
  • Drinking water supply for 115 households
  • Construction of toilets for 165 households
  • Psycho-social health measures

Result 3.Agriculture and animal husbandry

  • Establishment and strengthening of 14 farmers groups
  • Improvement of irrigation canals
  • Improvement of animal husbandry
  • Establishment of kitchen gardens
  • Starting new/ expanding existing businesses
